What we cover
We publish reviews, new-music discoveries, interviews, features, news and industry reporting. Machine Room explains the tools and processes behind the music, but the publication is built around the artists and records, not software releases.
How we listen
We treat a release as music before treating it as an argument about technology. When a creative process is relevant, we explain what is known and attribute what an artist has told us. A New Music introduction can point readers toward a release without pretending to be a full review. Scored reviews use The Signal.
Independent by design
Artists do not pay for editorial consideration, coverage or a Signal score. If the publication carries advertising, it will be separate from editorial decisions. Our editorial policy explains corrections, sourcing and review standards.
